Property Buying Tip: Check Fault Line

All types of investments entail RISKS; there is nothing I know of yet that is zero-risk or risk free. Its a matter of how you want to accept the kind of risk your investment holds and how to manage it.

For Real Estate Investments, the RISK involved that is totally UNCONTROLLABLE are those risks which are in non-life insurance terms – Acts of God or Acts of Nature such as for example, an Earthquake.  As a prudent investor, what you want to do before BUYING ANY PROPERTY is to do a quick-check if the area is resting on a fault line or is within 5-10 meters away from the fault-line as experts would say. You may also go to Philvolcs webtsite to check on these areas.

Below is a write up by GMA Network as well:

MY COMMENTS:
1)  Above write up of GMA is not the complete list ie. Where is Paranaque? Best to still check with Philvocs
http://www.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph/
2)  This is just a list of FAULT LINE. It does not mean that if you’re property is not on the faultline nor within the 10 meter radius from the fault-line, you are declared safe. It is the RISK of an EARTHQUAKE or a TSUNAMI that we cannot avoid. For instance, notice that the list of areas near or on the fault does not include BATANGAS but do remember that the epicenter of the 5.5 earthquake in August-September of 2017 which we all felt in Metro Manila was in BATANGAS.
3) In Other Words…
  • check if the property you are buying in Metro Manila and nearby provinces is  on or near a fault line; some sellers or real estate agents will no disclose this to you.
  • like any other investment, real estate investing entails risks but it pays to learn and identify the risks and how to manage it. read about how to be safe and manage the risk of earthquakes or tsunami or any acts of nature. there are several readings about it.. for instance, we could learn from how those who live near in San Andreas Fault in California,  still opt to live in California.
  • The Philippines is in the “ring of fire”. I would suggest to insure your properties to shift the risk
I got this below from a blog  www. panahon.tv and it clearly shows the East and West Valley Fault System and the possible destruction effects of an earthquake…
To top it all, no one is spared… be prepared, be safe and PRAY AT ALL TIMES that your investment and our families will not be hard-hit.
